The Ottawa girls basketball team outscored host Sandwich in a 46-30 victory. The Lady Pirates were led by 15 points and 15 rebounds from Allie Miceli, while the Lady Indians were paced by 10 points from Jordan Johnson.

The Earlville-Leland girls hoops squad used a 29-14 second-half advantage in a 50-36 win over Paw Paw at the Somonauk Class 1A Regional. Morgan Musich poured in 28 points for the Lady Red Raiders, while Karah Borton posted 11 points and 22 rebounds, and Taylor Hardin registered 11 boards.

The Newark boys basketball club improved to 22-1 on the season with an 83-27 triumph over Illinois Math and Science Academy. The Norsemen were led by Kyle Anderson [20 points], Brett Anderson [15 points, eight rebounds], Cameron Berg [13 points], and John Avery [12 points].

The Marquette girls basketball squad trailed Hinckley-Big Rock 15-6 after the opening quarter but regrouped to advance with a 46-42 win at the Somonauk Class A Regional. The Lady Crusaders were paced by 13 points from Jaci Miller, 11 points from Alex Ratajczak, and 10 points from Meaghan Nesti.

The Streator boys hoops team defeated host Hall, 47-35. Brandon VanDuzer had 17 points and 13 rebounds, while Brady Bedeker added nine points for the Bulldogs.

The Marquette boys basketball club topped host Woodland 78-65 in a Tri-County Conference contest. The Crusaders were paced by J.C. Thumm’s 20 points and 19 points and 12 rebounds from Andrew Swords. Chris Cassady led the Warriors with 25 points, including five 3s, and eight rebounds, while Brian Council had 11 points and five steals.

The Ottawa boys hoops squad earned a 61-39 triumph over visiting Sandwich at Kingman Gymnasium. The Pirates were led by Alex McGrath [16 points], Mike Lamb [10 points], and Andy Carretto [nine points]. Mike Meyer paced the Indians with 11 points and six rebounds.

The Serena boys basketball team used a 34-17 second-half advantage in a 61-47 victory over Putnam County. The Huskers’ James DeBolt recorded 21 points and 13 rebounds, while Connor Finley and Cooper Westvig each netted 15 points.

The Seneca girls hoops club improved to 23-1 on the season after outscoring Marquette 52-18 over the final three quarters in a 65-28 win in the championship game of the Newark Class A Regional. The Lady Irish were led by Donna Einhaus [18 points, six rebounds, seven assists], Veronica Hutfles [16 points, 10 rebounds], Angie Stubblefield [15 points], and Amy Robinson [12 assists]. The Lady Cru was paced by eight points from Tiffany Harmon.

The Leland girls basketball team improved to 25-1 on the campaign after using a 16-5 first-quarter advantage to jump-start a 64-39 Class A regional title triumph over host Mendota. The Lady Panthers were led by 23 points from Kathy Abbott, 16 points from Jenni Owen, 12 points from Sarah Kidd, and four points, 11 assists, seven steals, and nine rebounds from Angie Thomas.

The Flanagan boys hoops squad defeated visiting Minonk-Dana-Rutland, 72-65. The Falcons were paced by Brent Rocke [20 points], Todd Birkey [19 points], Rod Bertsche [14 points], and Paul Augsburger [10 points]. Jim Stenger led MDR with 17 points, with Jeff Pomeranke and Terry Baker adding 13 points each, and Jim Brown 10 points.
