Animal blamed for L-P power outage that left 1,500 briefly without lights

An animal is being blamed for a partial power outage around 6 p.m. Sunday that briefly left nearly 1,500 people without lights in the La Salle-Peru area.

Ameren’s outage map indicated 1,489 customers without service, resulting from two outages. Downtown La Salle was fully illuminated while the city’s north end was largely darkened, though power largely was restored by 7:30 p.m.
