Shepherd girls hoops opens with wins
Shepherd’s seventh grade and eighth grade girls basketball teams opened with wins over Pontiac. The 7s won, 30-10, (Ashlyn Ganiere 16 points, Reese Purcell eight points), while the eighth grade Rams were victorious, 18-16 (Mary Stisser eight points, Belle Markey five points).

In Tuesday and Thursday Night Men’s League play in Ottawa:
Berta’s Tap 12, Allison Asphalt 2: For Allision, Jason Gaughan had two hits. For Berta’s, Kray Wheeler and Andrew Mathis both had three hits, with Brazon Wheelerand Hunter Sutton contributing two hits each. Matt Lambert ended the game with a walk-off homer.
Hometown National Bank 10, J.F. Brennan 11: Alex Koziel, Troy Yeager, Ken Hicks, Jeff Demoss, Elliot Kowalski, Jake Less and Bryce Robert had two hits, while Clay Caputo homered for Hometown. For Brennan, Jason Kennedy led the way going 4 for 4. Spencer Smith and Kyle Kokrada each had three hits, with Eric Farmer, Caleb Smith and Taylor Morgan contributing two including Morgan’s homer.

Berta’s Tap took its first loss despite Andrew Mathis’ three hits, with Kray Wheeler, Matt Lambert, Hunter Sutton, Tyler Carson, Kipp Caputo and Drew Johnson all adding two hits.
J.F. Brennan 19, Allison Asphalt 9: Tic Allison, Dave Dillard, Dan Dillard and Jovan Lynch each contributed two hits in the loss. Morgan Taylor and Mickey Armstrong each slammed a pair of home runs, while Nick Allegretti added three hits, including a homer. Steve Johnson also had a three-hit night.
