The Streator High girls track and field team kept up its strong season Thursday, traveling to Manteno and dominating the host Panthers by a final team score of 97-30.
Rilee Talty (13.63 seconds in the 100; :18.68 in the 100 hurdles), Cassie Simons (:29.76 in the 200; 13-1 1/2 in the long jump), Abby Seaton (6:26.53 in the 1600; 13:37.27 in the 3200), Lana Krohe (36 feet, 3 inches in the shot put; 88-3 in the discus) and Marissa Vickers (4-0 in the high jump; 25-3 in the triple jump) all contributed two individual event victories for the Bulldogs. Also adding firsts Thursday were Abby Pierce (:53.83 in the 300 hurdles), the 1600 relay team (5:53.99) and Stephanie Mendoza (3:11.97 in the 800).
Seneca 106, Marquette 22, Putnam Co. 20: At Granville, the Irish secured the Tri-County Conference wins paced by first-place finishes from Emma Smith (:13.80 in 100; 1.40 meters in high jump), Anna Bruno (:28.02 in 200; 5.13 in long jump), Brooklyn Giertz (1:04.01 in 400; :17.18 in 100 hurdles; 10.14 in triple jump), Marie Cheshareck (2:56.17 in 800), Amber Vroman (5:54.68 in 1600; 12:30.67 in 3200), the 400 relay team of Faith Deering, Taylor Draves, Giertz and Carly Greve (:53.94), the 800 team of Deering, Draves, Kaitlyn Ehrler and Greve (1:59.21), the 1600 team of Deering, Cheshareck, Audrey Jenkins and Delany Welsh (4:51.25), Gabi Maxwell (8.55 in shot put) and Deering (30.43 in discus).
Maera Jiminez (1:05.26 in 300 hurdles) scored an event victory for Marquette.

Seneca 111, Marquette 26, Putnam Co. 17: At Granville, Seneca’s boys dominated the action led by event victories from Ryan McCauley (10.81 meters in triple jump), Given Siegel (5.70 in long jump; :17.14 in 110 hurdles), Logan Tondini (33.30 in discus; 10.56 in shot put), the 1600 relay team of Carson Collet, Billy Glasscock, McCauley and Trey Hauch (3:55.50), the 800 team of Collet, Trey Hauch, McCauley and Chase Hauch (1:34.53), the 400 relay team of Kolya Cato, Siegel, Chase Hauch and Trey Hauch (:45.47), Collet (43:00 in 300 hurdles), Glasscock (5:20.49 in 1600; 2:10.86 in 800), Chase Hauch (:24.16 in 200), and Cato (:11.84 in 100).
Marquette ran to victories in the 3200 relay with Nate Nelson, Daniel Hoffman, Nathan Scherer and Easton Kent (10:38.43), the 3200 courtesy of Lucas Hoffman (10:55.71), and the 400 thanks to Nelson (:58.80).
Streator 55 1/3, Manteno 49 2/3: At Manteno, the Bulldogs edged the Panthers led by event victories courtesy of Aiden Kearfott (30 feet, 0 inches in triple jump), the 3200 (12:24.69) and 1600 (4:24.14) relay teams, Kevin Parr (14:13.31 in 3200), Ryan Seaton (6:08.98 in 1600), Kody Danko (2:11.09 in 800), Cade Stevens (:24.81 in 200), and Amarion Ford (:11.78 in 100).
Baseball
Dunlap 11, Streator 1 (6 inn.): At Dunlap, the visiting Bulldogs (10-4) were defeated in non-conference action, managing just three singles and one run batted in, with Logan Williamson providing the RBI.
Payton Benning (2 2/3 IP, 1 ER, 2 K) started and suffered the pitching loss.
Seneca 11, Henry-Senachwine 2: At Henry, Matt Cruise (4 IP, 0 ER, 6 K), Cole Underhill (2 IP, 0 R, 1 K) and Jake Gerding (1 IP, 0 R, 2 K) combined on a three-headed no-hitter for the visiting Fighting Irish in the Tri-County triumph.
Brayden Roe (three hits), Gage Cryder (two hits, two RBIs), Cruise (two RBIs) and Hayden Klicker (two hits) led the Seneca offense as the Irish improved to 10-1 overall and 6-0 in the TCC.
Midland 9, WFC 8: At rural Varna, the Warriors led early and going into the seventh before the host Timberwolves plated three in the final frame for the walk-off Tri-County Conference win.
Xander Boyles had three singles and three runs scored, Carl Sass singled twice, and Mason Sterling singled and drove home two for Woodland/Flanagan-Cornell (1-7, 1-5). Sass (4 1/3 IP, 5 ER, 10 K) suffered the pitching loss.
Marquette 14, Roanoke-Benson 2 (5 inn.): At Roanoke, the visiting Crusaders (4-2) received a single, a home run and four RBIs off the bat of Nick Melvin in the Tri-County victory.
Beau Ewers (two hits, two RBIs) and Brady Ewers (double, two RBIs) also paced the offense, with Shane Reynolds scoring three times. Luke Couch (4 IP, 0 R, 5 K) allowed just one hit in earning the win.
Softball
WFC 21, Midland 0 (5 inn.): At rural Varna, the visiting Warriors (7-2) stormed to the Tri-County triumph led at the plate by Sydnee Plesko (4-for-4, four RBIs), Kortney Harms (2-for-2, three RBIs), Peyton Bradbury (2-for-2, two RBIs), Audrey Jenkins (two singles, triple, three RBIs) and Ella Sibert (single, double, three RBIs).
Harms (2 IP, 0 R, 2 K) and reliever/winning pitcher Clara Downey (3 IP, 0 R, 0 K) teamed up in the circle.
Newark 16, Putnam County 2 (5 inn.): At Granville, the visiting Norsemen improved to 10-2 led by the bat of Taylor Kruser (three hits, three RBIs), with Peyton Wohead, Emily DiClementi and Kaitlyn Schofield adding two hits and two runs batted in each.
Kodi Rizzo also had two RBIs in support of winning pitcher Kruser (5 IP, 0 ER, 10 K).
Marquette 14, Lowpoint-Washburn 2 (5 inn.): At Washburn, the visiting Crusaders (6-1) used three pitchers – winner Kaylee Killelea (3 IP, 0 R, 8 K), Natalie Cruise (1 IP, 0 R, 1 K) and Lauryn Rayburn (1 IP, 2 ER, 1 K) – to spin a one-hit TCC victory.
Izzy Garkey singled, doubled and homered with three RBIs for the Cru. Lindsey Kaufmann tripled twice with one RBI, Addie McConnaughhay singled twice and drove home three, Eva McCallum singled twice with an RBI, and Paige Cottingim also drove home two for Marquette.
Seneca 8, Henry-Senachwine 4: At Henry, the visiting Irish (12-2, 6-0) earned the TCC win after rallying back from an early three-run deficit.
Taya Roe (7 IP, 3 ER, 7 K) pitched the victory, backed by the bats of Sam Vandevelde (two triples, two RBIs), Maddy Klicker (single, double, three RBIs) and Kennedy Hartwig (single, triple).
South Beloit 2, Earlville 1: At Earlville, the host Red Raiders lost a close non-conference on despite a strong effort in the circle from Paige Marks (7 IP, 2 R, 11 K).
Avery Strohm with a hit and RBI, along with Breynn Guelde with a hit and run scored, paced Earlville (3-7).
Boys wrestling
Seneca 39, Sherrard 27; Seneca 66, Putnam Co. 6: In a triangular, the Fighting Irish knocked off another ranked team in Sherrard and added a dominant performance against Putnam County to win their school-record 12th straight dual.
Two-win performances were turned in by Nathan Elliott at 285 (pinfall, forfeit), Gavin Robertson at 182/195 (pinfall, forfeit), Chris Peura at 170/182 (two pinfalls), Wilson Widman at 138 (6-3 dec., forfeit), Owen Feiner at 132 (2-0 dec., forfeit), Jaden Casey at 126/120 (6-5 dec., forfeit), and Luke Sangston at 113 (pinfall, forfeit).
Boys tennis
Mendota 3, Streator 2: In a non-conference meeting of former NCIC rivals, the Bulldogs swept the singles but were swept in doubles to suffer the loss.
Davey Rashid – now 7-0 on the season – won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, with Nathan Beck triumphing 7-5, 3-6, 10-3 at No. 2. The No. 1 doubles team of Max Baker and Cooper Wahl lost a close one, 2-6, 6-2, 10-6.
