Berwyn man charged with DUI, aggravated speeding in Riverside

A Berwyn man was charged Wednesday with aggravated speeding, felony driving on a revoked driver’s license and other charges in Riverside.

Allan G. Hernandez, 33, of the 6600 block of Cermak Road, also charged with driving with no insurance after he was stopped in the 3600 block of Harlem Avenue, police said.

Police at about 1 a.m. clocked the driver of a 2005 GMC four-door traveling 60 mph in a 30 mph zone.

Police stopped the vehicle at Harlem and Ogden avenues. When asked for his driver’s license, Hernandez said he did not have one. Police later determined that his license was revoked based on a previous DUI conviction, according to a Riverside Police Department news release.

Hernandez has been arrested six times for driving on a revoked license. He also had a criminal history for theft, harboring a runaway and jumping bail, police said.

“Allan Hernandez is a habitual offender for traffic offenses,” Riverside Police Chief Tom Weitzel said in a statement. “Considering his six prior driving-while-revoked arrests based off of a DUI, his actions to continue to drive is appalling. To that end we have filed seizure paperwork in an attempt to seize his car. If we are awarded the vehicle by court order, we will sell the vehicle and use the profits to fight impaired driving.”
