DuPage County reports 174 COVID-19 cases Tuesday, 1 death, 14.45% of population fully vaccinated

The DuPage County Health Department on Tuesday reported 174 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in the county, with 1 death, a man in his 50s.

The county now has seen a total of 80,271 coronavirus cases including 1,284 deaths, according to the health department. The recovery rate among DuPage County cases as of March 16 was 98.3%.

DuPage County has administered 367,553 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. A total of 134,219 people, or 14.45% of the population, have been fully vaccinated.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen 62 consecutive days below 8%. The region’s positivity rate decreased to 4.2%. Currently, 29% of ICU beds are available.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average decreased to 3.8% and DuPage County stayed flat at 4.4%.

Hospitalizations have decreased or remained stable for seven out of the past 10 days in this region.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 1,832 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 13 additional deaths Tuesday, and a total of 4,818,097 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered.

For Monday, the state reported 70,252 shots administered.

By town, Wheaton has had 4,257 total cases, Glen Ellyn 3,006, Lombard 4,087, Villa Park 2,448, Hinsdale 1,375, Westmont 2,022, Darien 1,715, Woodridge 2,550, Downers Grove 4,155, Elmhurst 4,172, Warrenville 1,246 and Winfield 1,051. Addison has had 4,679 confirmed cases, Naperville 7,468, Carol Stream 4,263 and West Chicago 4,222.
