Corn Festival returns this weekend

Annual celebration was canceled last year because of COVID-19

MORRIS – It’s back.

After taking 2020 off because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Grundy County Corn Festival returns this weekend for its 72nd iteration.

The festivities began Wednesday, as the food vendors were in place up and down Liberty Street, as well as the carnival at Stratton Park. The water fights featuring the county’s fire departments also took place Wednesday.

Downtown Morris will be buzzing throughout the weekend, with highlights including a petting zoo and pony rides at Franklin and Main streets, train rides beginning at the Grundy County Courthouse and live music at three different stages. On Sunday, the festival culminates with the annual Corn Festival Parade.
