Grayslake Bike Share to launch this spring

Two-year pilot program is partnership in works since 2017

GRAYSLAKE – Grayslake Bike Share, a partnership between the Grayslake Area Public Library District, village of Grayslake, Grayslake Community Park District, College of Lake County and Grayslake resident Mary Klees, announced it has partnered with Koloni, and plans to launch Lake County’s first bike-share program as a two-year pilot program in the spring.

“As part of our strategic plan, we are pursuing partnership opportunities that underscore our mission, ‘Connecting community. Enriching lives. Inspiring ideas.’ Libraries have always striven to find innovative ways to provide access to resources and improve quality of life for our neighborhood and families,” library Director Sara Brown said in a news release. “Partnering with the Grayslake Park District for a shared community location seemed like a natural fit. We are also grateful to be partnering with the College of Lake County and the village of Grayslake for the greatest good of our community as well.”

The local districts and Klees have been working collaboratively since 2017 in the development of the bike-share program.

Bike rentals will be available at locations throughout Grayslake at a cost of $3 for the first hour and $1 for each additional hour.

Information will be available on the districts’ websites and social media pages closer to the launch of the program in the spring.
