An Oswego School District 308 Board candidate is facing domestic battery charges in separate incidents dating back to 2019.
Keisha Earl, 47, of the 100 block of Willowwood Drive North, Oswego, is set to appear in Kendall County Court April 27 on multiple criminal misdemeanor charges of domestic battery stemming from two incidents at her home. One of the incidents involved a minor, according to Oswego police.
Earl did not return multiple requests for comment and her attorney also declined to comment.
According to Oswego police reports obtained by the Oswego Ledger and KendallCountyNow.com, the first incident occurred Dec. 5, 2019, when an officer was dispatched to Earl’s residence to assist with a possible stab wound.
The report states that while the officer was en route to Earl’s residence, dispatchers advised that an individual “came into the room and stabbed the caller with an unknown object.”
Upon arrival at the home, officers met with the victim, a minor, and the alleged assailant, identified in the report as Earl.
“Keisha (Earl) was visibly upset that we were being called to the residence. Keisha advised that she did not have much to say about the incident that had occurred as she is tired of (the victim)...acting foolish,” the report continued.
Upon questioning the victim, the report states that an officer observed a small scratch type wound on his right leg just above his knee and there was blood on the wound. The officer added, “I also noticed what appeared to be a hole in the pants he claimed to be wearing that corresponded with the injury.”
The report states that the Earl told police she was unsure how the victim had received the wound to his leg and “she did not believe she engaged him in the manner (he) had described.”
Earl was charged with two counts of domestic battery in the incident, according to police records.
The incident resulting in Earl’s second arrest occurred May 5, 2020.
The victim told officers that she had been putting dishes away at the residence when Earl entered and began yelling at her, telling her to gather her things and leave.
According to the report, the victim told police that Earl “began to get in (her) face,” leading her to begin recording the interaction on her phone, when Earl allegedly began striking the victim in the arms and head area with her fists.
The victim told officers that “Keisha picked up a decorative word sign with the word ‘Blessed’ on it that sits on a table in a loft and began hitting (her) with it in the legs and lower half of her body,” the report continued.
The victim ran outside and was locked out of the house. Officers attempted to make contact with Earl by ringing the doorbell and knocking, but Earl never answered, the report states.
The victim declined to sign complaints and told officers that she did not want Earl to be arrested, but officers signed complaints on her behalf “as she had physical injuries, was the main 911 caller, completed a written statement as well as an audio and video statement in which her story never changed, and the fact that Keisha refused to answer the door or talk to us over the phone, to give her side of the story,” the report states.
According to police, a warrant for a charge of domestic battery was filed for Earl’s arrest with the Kendall County State’s Attorney’s Office. Earl was subsequently arrested and charged with two counts of domestic battery and a single count of interfering with the reporting of domestic violence, according to police records.
