Caroline Kramer and Kit Schneider won individual championships in the 50 freestyle and 100 breastroke to lead Hinsdale Central to second at state, while St. Charles North won the meet-ending 400 freestyle relay to get third. Oswego Co-op's Katie Gresik was second in the 500 free.

The Oswego Co-op girls swim team had a tumultuous start to the season with circumstances beyond its control when longtime coach Deryl Leubner was terminated as coach of Oswego School District’s Delta Aquatics program. But with 16 state qualifiers and coming off a sectional title, Oswego Co-op could have a triumphant finish to the season at this weekend's IHSA state meet in Westmont.
Oswego senior Lauren Wille, who won the 100 and 200-yard freestyle and and was part of the winning 200 and 400 freestyle relays as Oswego Co-op won the Neuqua Valley Sectional title, is the Record Newspapers Athlete of the Week as voted on by readers.
