High school sports roundup for Saturday, March 13: Oswego Co-op swimmers win SPC championship

Oswego Co-op's swimming team won the Southwest Prairie Conference meet on Saturday.

BOYS SWIMMING

Southwest Prairie Conference Meet

Oswego Co-Op scored 288 points to win the team title of the Southwest Prairie Conference meet, with Plainfield (251) second and Riverside-Brookfield (209) third. First-place finishers included Austin Millard in the 200 freestyle (1:39.43) and 500 freestyle (4:34.91), Dean Ramsbottom in the 50 freestyle (20.80) and 100 butterfly (51.03) and the 200 freestyle relay of Ramsbottom, Mason Hodge, Beckett McGraw and Millard (1:24.07).

Millard beat the 500 freestyle record and 200 freestyle record, Ramsbottom beat the 50 free record and 100 fly record and Millard, McGraw, Ramsbottom and Hodge beat the 200 freestyle relay record.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Waubonsie Valley 94, Yorkville Christian 77

Tyler Burrows scored 20 points, Chase DiVito and KJ Vasser 18 and Brayden Long 15 for the Mustangs, who finished the season 10-1.

BOYS SOCCER

Hinckley-Big Rock 3, Sandwich 0

Veasna Schwingle had eight saves in goal, with Marco Gomes contributing a solid defensive effort and Adrian Mendoza the outstanding defensive performance for the Indians.

HOCKEY

Waubonsie 4, Oswego 1

Brandon Alesia scored Oswego’s goal. Waubonsie also won at the JV level 5-3. Goals by Justin Morrissey, Colin Ryan and Jimmy Fitzgerald for Oswego.
