Girls Swimming: Oswego Co-op wins sectional title

NAPERVILLE – Led by five first-place finishes, with Washington State recruit Lauren Wille part of four of them, the Oswego Co-op swimming and diving team won the Neuqua Valley Sectional title on Saturday.

Oswego scored 249 points, beating out Neuqua Valley (199) and Rosary (199).

Oswego’s Chloe Diner, Katie Gresik, Wille and Corinne Guist won the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:34.67, and Guist, Carson White, Wille and Hailey Fris won the 400 freestyle relay in 3:27.45.

In individual races, Wille won the 200 freestyle in 1:50.49, with Guist second in 1:51.68 and also qualifying for state. Wille also won the 100 freestyle in 51.28 seconds, with Diner second in 52.20 seconds and also qualifying for state.

Oswego’s Amelia Soriaga won the diving competition with 349.95 points, with teammate Riley O’Brien third with 375.40 points and also qualifying for state.

Other Oswego qualifiers included Diner in the 200 individual medley (second, 2:04.27) and Gresik in the 200 IM (fourth, 2:05.74), Gresik in the 100 butterfly (fifth, 56.79) and White in the 100 butterfly (sixth, 57.43), Guist in the 500 freestyle (second, 4:56.39), White in the 100 backstroke (sixth, 57.67) and Bridget O’Grady in the 100 breaststroke (sixth, 1:05.70).

Oswego’s 200 medley relay team Fris, Gresik, White and Diner finished fifth in 1:45.91 to qualify for state.
