The Kendall County Health Department reported 223 new cases of COVID-19 among county residents as of Thursday, Nov. 18, 66 fewer cases than the 289 new cases reported by the department in its weekly reported issued Nov. 12.
In addition to the drop in new cases, the death toll from the virus among county residents remained at 118 as reported by the department Nov. 12.
However, this week’s report shows a continued rise in the test positivity rate for the virus among county residents from the 5.6% reported Nov. 12 to 5.8% reported Thursday.
The number of county residents to become fully vaccinated for the virus continues to slowly climb.
Thursday’s health department lists 75,913 county residents or 59.59% of the county’s total population as fully vaccinated, an increase of 316 over the 75,913 county residents listed as fully vaccinated by the department Nov. 12.
Illinois Department of Public Health data released Nov. 17 showed the portion of the county in the Newark 60541 ZIP code continues to lag far behind the rest of the county in fully vaccinated residents. The IDPH data shows just 36.07% of the population in the 60541 ZIP has been fully vaccinated compared to the 64.18% of the population in the Aurora 60503 ZIP code and 61.32% of the population in the Oswego 60543 ZIP code who are fully vaccinated.
The percentage of the population to be fully vaccinated in the Yorkville 60560 ZIP code stood at 60.46% as of Nov. 17, the IDPH data shows.
The percentage of the population in the Plano 60545 ZIP code to be fully vaccinated stood at 53.23%, according to the IDPH data.
