Shakou plans to reopen St. Charles restaurant in February

Wants to reopen by Feb. 14

Shakou will again be part of downtown St. Charles’ culinary scene.

After closing its restaurant at 312 W. Main St. in June 2019, Shakou – which offers modern Japanese cuisine in an urban vibe setting – plans to reopen next month.

Shakou originally opened at the location in 2015. At the time of its closing, Shakou had said it was closing its St. Charles location to repurpose it for corporate and executive chef needs.

At the time of its closing, Shakou opened a new restaurant in Naperville. It has other locations in Libertyville, Barrington, Park Ridge and Arlington Heights.

Indoor dining currently is not allowed as part of the state’s COVID-19 mitigation plan.

Shakou is applying for a liquor license and 2 a.m. late night permit. The request will go before the city’s Liquor Control Commission and the St. Charles City Council’s Government Operations Committee on Tuesday.
