Ottawa Fire Department to get new radios for $14K

City Council approves purchase from Nicholson 1 Communications

Ottawa fire aerial trucks were inspected on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2025 near the YMCA in Ottawa. Industrial Inspection and Analysis of Wilimgton, tested the departments ladders and aerials. The inspections are done once per year. Crews will be testing trucks throughout this week.

The Ottawa Fire Department is set to receive four new radios after the Ottawa City Council approved a quote from Nicholson 1 Communications at Tuesday night’s meeting.

The radios will cost $14,600, but will be covered completely by grant proceeds. The radios are refurbished with new parts.

The proposal for new radios and their equipment was set in motion in December.
