Josie Lindsey returns to defend Women’s Masters championship

The field in this year’s Princeton Masters Women Bowling Tournament, which starts up this weekend, will be hard pressed to top last year’s event.

Last year, for the first time in its 52-year history, two bowlers ended in a tie with Josie Lindsey and Katie Gerrard, both of Kewanee, each scoring 92.10 Peterson Points. They went on to a one-game showdown with Lindsey rolling a 206 to defeat Gerrard (157), a former champion, to claim her second Master’s crown in four years.

Lindsey also won the Masters in her first year in 2021, but had not bowled in it since the passing of her husband, Terry, who was her “biggest fan,”

Danielle Hoopes (90.23) finished third last year with Melinda Camp (89.0) fourth and Ashley Hensley (83.06) fifth.

This year’s tournament will start at 3 p.m. Saturday at Pin Splitter Lanes.
