Photos: Large brushfire shuts down Interstate 80 in Bureau County

Firefighters extinguish a brushfire Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2024, on Interstate 80 eastbound near mile post 65 in Bureau County. A Mutual Aid Box Alarm System was sent out about 11:45 a.m. and upgraded to a fourth alarm. Interstate 80 was shut down in the eastbound lane while firefighters doused the flames. Fire companies from Utica, Oglesby, Ladd, Bureau, Hennepin, Peru, La Salle, Spring Valley and others responded to the scene. (Scott Anderson)
