Photos: Horizon House opens 'The Hub,' community day service in La Salle

Horizon House CEO Michelle Rich speaks on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2024, during an open house of "The Hub" a community day service location through Horizon House of the Illinois Valley in downtown La Salle. The building is located at 105 Marquette St. behind the former La Salle National Bank building. The COVID pandemic led to a 15-month closure of the site-based day services and the sheltered workshop. That time provided an opportunity to completely redesign Horizon House's Day Services and resulted in closing the sheltered workshop and seeking an alternative home base for the program. Several months were spent remodeling the location to best meet the needs of the people who receive day services. Horizon House has been in operation for 54 years. During this time, the agency has made many significant physical and programmatic changes in response to the changing needs of the people with disabilities they serve. (Scott Anderson)
