As most readers now are aware, the Daily Journal will be printing its papers on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and will be running an e-edition-only newspaper on Tuesdays and Thursdays. With that will be some changes to the Life section, but the section will continue to include everything that currently runs.
The only element that no longer will be appearing in the Life section is Sharon Randall’s “Over Easy” column, as Randall retired from writing her column at the end of 2022.
Here is what the section will look like day-by-day:
MONDAY
The Monday Life section will be four pages and will include the following:
• Best Bets/Community Calendar
• Tune In Tonight
• Dear Abby
• Celebrity Birthdays
• Amish Kitchen
TUESDAY
The Tuesday Life section will be a one-page section and will be the same as it currently is. The page will include the following:
• Nerdwallet
• Tune In Tonight
• Dear Abby
• Celebrity Birthdays
WEDNESDAY
The Wednesday Life section will be a three-page section and will include:
• Local News (including the monthly Best Bites and Clearing Out the Clutter columns)
• Live music calendar
• Weekend movies
• Savvy Senior
• Tune In Tonight
• Dear Abby
• Celebrity Birthdays
• Church News
THURSDAY
The Thursday Life section will be a one-page section and will include the following:
• Nerdwallet
• Tune In Tonight
• Dear Abby
• Celebrity Birthdays
SATURDAY/SUNDAY
The weekend Life section will remain a six-page section and will include the following:
• Local news
• Pet of the Week
• 5 Things
• A Taylor-Made Life
• Tune In Tonight
• Dear Abby
• Celebrity Birthdays
• Reel Talk
• New on the Bookshelf
• Library Life
• Birth announcements
• Education news
• Anniversary/wedding/engagement announcements
The biggest change for the weekend is that Pet of the Week will be joining the existing content (instead of on Thursdays where it currently runs). We have Pet of the Week submissions slated through fall 2023, and submissions run in the order they are received.
To submit your pet for Pet of the Week, go to daily-journal.com/life, and select “Submit to Pet of the Week” on the right-hand side of the page. Or, email your submission to life@daily-journal.com.
This will be my third year overseeing the Life section, and it’s something I take very seriously. If there is something you’d like to see more of, just let me know. I’m happy to receive feedback via email at life@daily-journal.com.
We also love to receive reader-submitted photos, and those either run in Local Faces or the Life section.
Thank you for reading, and we at the Daily Journal wish you a very Happy New Year!
