The Kankakee County Coroner’s Office identified 63-year-old Todd Banks as the person whose body was recovered Saturday from the Kankakee River.

Preliminary cause of death is drowning, with final cause of death awaiting toxicology results, said Kankakee County Coroner Bob Gessner.

Banks’ family reported him missing to authorities on Oct. 17. He had no permanent address, Gessner said.

Banks’ body was discovered by fishermen near the Kankakee hydroelectric plant by the Kankakee River dam.
