First Baptist Church of Sycamore to hold drive-thru fundraiser benefiting Ukrainian refugees

First Baptist Church of Sycamore and 5B’s Catering will host a drive-up pork chop dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 30.

SYCAMORE – The First Baptist Church of Sycamore is holding a drive-thru dinner fundraiser to support Ukrainian refugees in Poland.

The church will host a 5-B’s Catering pork chop dinner drive-thru from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 31, at First Baptist Church of Sycamore, 530 W. Sycamore St. in Sycamore.

All proceeds will benefit the World Venture Ukrainian Refugee Fund through the church’s missionaries serving in Poland. The money will help missionaries help refugees as they leave Ukraine and enter Poland.

Teaching Pastor Kevin Rutledge said his congregation has been closely following the war in Ukraine because a high school student from Ukraine was recently adopted by one of the church’s families.

“The student has come to visit the U.S. for years, and we wanted to help her friends and family in the Ukraine any way we could,” Rutledge said. “We also wanted to send a team of missionaries to Poland this summer, but because of the current situation, we decided not to go on the trip but send some money instead. We always want to help, and a fundraiser dinner is one way we – and the community – can help.”

Tickets cost $14 each and can be pre-ordered by visiting bit.ly/FBC-5B-Missions. Payment is due at pick-up either by cash or check made out to “FBC.”

Meals will include two pork chops, half of a chicken or a combination of both, applesauce, baked beans, coleslaw, dinner roll and butter.
