SYCAMORE – Three vehicles were reported stolen from the showroom at the Brian Bemis dealership in Sycamore, police said Friday.

According to a news release from the Sycamore Police Department, police responded about 4:45 a.m. Friday to the Sycamore dealership at 1825 DeKalb Ave. for a report of people possibly stealing cars. The dealership also is known as Sycamore Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram and Volvo Cars.

After an investigation, police said three vehicles were stolen from the dealership: a white 2021 Dodge Durango, a red 2021 Dodge Challenger and a white 2020 Dodge Challenger.

A delivery driver told officers who arrived at the dealership that he had seen several people going through vehicles and then leaving the lot in multiple cars, police said. The driver also told police he discovered a broken showroom window.

After further investigation, police said the suspects had forced entry into the building by crashing another vehicle through the showroom glass and stole three vehicles from the showroom.

No arrests were reported in connection with the theft and burglary, although Sycamore police are seeking the public’s help. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sycamore police at 815-895-2123.

In an unrelated public service announcement earlier this week, DeKalb police warned the public to remain vigilant as summer months often bring with them an uptick in vehicle burglaries or motor vehicle theft.

The department recommends the following vehicle burglary prevention tips:

  • Lock your car, even in your driveway.
  • Do not leave your electronic devices, wallets, purses, cash or keys visible from outside your vehicle.
  • Do not leave vehicles unattended if the keys are inside.
  • Keep outside lights on after dark.
  • If you see something, say something.
