Beef & Ag Days kicks off summer festival season

Down on Main Street Summer Street Concert series highlights first night

PRINCETON — Bureau County Cattlemen’s Association is getting ready to kick off summer with its annual Beef & Ag Festival this weekend.

This year’s festival opens in in conjunction with the Down on Main Street Summer Concert Series which also is back after a COVID-related hiatus last year.

The Cattlement’s Association will be at the Frontier lawn serving food Friday, along with the Lion’s club before The Chicago Experience takes the stage for the evening’s entertainment.

Saturday, the festivities continue with a farmer’s market from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Soldiers and Sailors Park and continues with a bounce house, face painting and balloon artist from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., a children’s pedal pull at 1 p.m. and a petting zoo from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The day continues with musical entertainment from the Covered Bridge Barbershop Chorus, Kevin Kramer, Seven Miles South and special performance by the Princeton High School Band. Nashville recording artist Jake Maurer caps off the evening’s musical performances from 6 to 9 p.m. on the courthouse lawn.

The Jaycees will host a beer garden from 5 to 9 p.m.

The Cattlemen’s Association, Lion’s Club and Crazy Kernel Kettlecorn will be serving food all day Saturday.

Other events include a caricature artist, book fair, scavenger hunt, quarter beef raffle and St. Louis Parish Annual Pie sale.
