Last call for yard waste is next week in Joliet.
The last collection of yard waste for the year will be during regularly scheduled garbage pick-ups Monday through Friday, the city said in a news release.
"Yard waste materials include grass, shrubbery, leaves, tree limbs and other materials accumulated as a result of lawn care," the city noted.
Rules include the following.
• Brush, tree limbs, and branches must be bound in bundles not exceeding four feet and weighing no more than 50 pounds. No single piece within each bundle should exceed three inches in diameter. Unbundled brush will not be collected.
• All other yard waste must be placed in either 30-gallon kraft paper bags or rigid containers no greater than 32 gallons. Non-standard containers such as drums and baskets will not be collected.
• Rigid containers must have yard-waste labels clearly marked so they are visible from the street. Labels are not needed for yard waste bags.
Free yard waste labels are available at City Hall, 150 W. Jefferson Street and Jewel Foods Stores at 1401 W. Jefferson St., 1537 N. Larkin Avenue, and 2480 IL Rt. 59.
