Sauk Valley reports 5 COVID-related deaths, 115 new cases Wednesday

The Whiteside County Health Department announced two COVID-related deaths on Wednesday involving people in their 70s and 80s.

Whiteside County also saw 36 new cases and 110 recoveries. The new cases involve five people under 20, six in their 20s, six in their 30s, seven in their 40s, five in their 50s, five in their 60s, one in their 70s and one over 80.

Lee County had 16 new cases on Wednesday, two from Dixon Correctional Center and five from Liberty Court. There were also 15 new recoveries. The new cases include one teen, one person in their 20s, on in their 30s, three in their 40s, one in their 50s and two in their 80s.

Ogle County had two additional COVID-related deaths. Ogle County had 39 new cases and 72 additional recoveries Wednesday.

Carroll County announced a COVID-related death Wednesday of a person in their 80s. Carroll County had 24 new cases Wednesday, involving one child, five teens, three people in their 20s, seven in their 30s, two in their 40s, one in their 50s, one in their 60s, three in their 70s and one in their 80s.

Whiteside County has had 3,989 cases and 85 deaths. Lee County has had 1,942 cases, 1,124 recoveries and 21 deaths.

Ogle County has had 2,933 cases, 2,328 recoveries and 36 deaths. Carroll County has had 1,097 cases, 1,026 recoveries and 25 deaths.

The North region (Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside and Winnebago counties) has seen zero consecutive days under the 12%. The region's positivity rate increased to 15%. Currently, 22.8% of medical/surgical beds are available and 20.1% of ICU beds.

The region has 11 consecutive days above the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability, and 11 consecutive days above the 20% threshold for medical/surgical bed availability.

Region 1 has a rolling, seven-day average of 253 COVID-19 patients in the hospital. Hospitalizations have decreased 10 out of the past 10 days in this region.

Within this region, DeKalb County's positivity rate increased to 12.2%, Lee County's rate decreased to 17.4%, and Whiteside County's rate dropped to 14.4%.

Within the region, there are 34 available, staffed ICU beds out of 179 total.

Illinois on Wednesday saw 9,757 new cases and 238 deaths. There have been 748,603 cases and 12,639 deaths statewide.

Sterling has had 11,301 tests and 1,451 cases. Rock Falls has had 5,612 tests and 863 cases. Dixon has had 13,467 tests and 1,376 cases. Rochelle has had 6,690 tests and 973 cases.
