Longtime St. Charles resident picked to fill vacancy on St. Charles Park Board

Steven Ward sworn in at Tuesday's board meeting

ST. CHARLES – Longtime St. Charles resident Steven Ward has been appointed to fill a vacancy on the St. Charles Park Board.

Ward was appointed to the board at its meeting on Tuesday and sworn in that night. He fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Mike Hoscheit, who had served on the board for three years.

Commissioners picked Ward to fill the seat after reviewing applications from four candidates.

“All of the applicants possessed traits, skills and education that would benefit the district and its residents," St. Charles Park Board President James Cooke said in a news release from the St. Charles Park District. "It was a difficult decision but the board, as a team, selected Steve and looks forward to working with him."

In order to keep the seat, Ward will have to run in the spring election. There will be four seats open in the April 6 consolidated election.

Commissioners are elected to four-year terms.
