KANE COUNTY – Illinois public officials on Saturday reported 607 new cases of COVID-19 in Kane County and six new deaths for a second consecutive day: 1 female 50s, 1 female 60s, 1 female 70s, 1 male 80s, 1 female 90s and 1 male 90s.
That's an increase from the 562 new cases reported on Friday. Kane County has now seen 28,832 total cases of the virus and 414 people have died.
The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen six days of positivity increases and four days of hospital admission increases. The region's positivity rate increased from 14.6% to 14.8%. Currently, 17% of medical/surgical beds are available and 23% of ICU beds. Within this region, Kane County's seven-day positivity average is at 17.1%, and DuPage County is at 13.5%.
The positivity rate is the percentage of people who test positive out of all the people tested in a given time period. Additional restrictions can be placed on any of the state's 11 health regions if the region sustains an increase in its average positivity rate for seven days out of a 10-day period.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 11,891 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 127 additional deaths Saturday. The IDPH received the results of 120,284 tests leading up to Saturday afternoon.
According to the IDPH, the rolling seven-day positivity rate average in the state remained at 11.5%.
Illinois now has seen 646,286 total cases of the virus, and 11,430 people have died.
