Did you get a confusing letter in the mail from Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White's office? The letter is legitimate, but La Salle County Clerk Lori Bongartz said Monday she's been swamped with calls and questions.
Bongartz issued a statement late Monday to clear up any confusion.
"It has been brought to my attention that any registered voter who received an application for a Vote By Mail ballot from the La Salle County Clerk’s Office recently received a letter from Jesse White, Secretary of State’s Office regarding Vote by Mail.
"If you have not requested a Vote by Mail ballot please disregard this letter. If you have received your ballot and wish to vote in person, please bring your ballot to the polling place and the election judge will spoil that original ballot and issue you another ballot to vote at the polls. You do not have to bring the letter from the Secretary of State’s Office with you to the polling place to vote."
