Genoa resident awarded $2,500 teacher scholarship

GENOA – Genoa resident Kara Marola was awarded a $2,500 Teacher Appreciation Scholarship to Western Governors University.

The scholarship is designed to help current teachers improve their skill set in the classroom or to assist aspiring teachers in obtaining the required credentials for a rewarding career as an educator, according to a news release.

Marola, a manager at Tobinson’s Ace Hardware and a teacher’s aide in Genoa Kingston School District 424, is pursuing a Master of Arts in teaching-elementary education from WGU. She was virtually presented with the scholarship Aug. 28 by WGU Strategic Partnerships manager Jim Chandler.
