New principal starts at Woodstock's Olson Elementary School

A former assistant principal in Palatine will be the new principal at Olson Elementary School in Woodstock this fall.

The Woodstock Community Unit School District 200 Board of Education hired a contract with Stephanie Watson earlier this year, and she officially started the job July 1.

The position carries a starting salary of $95,500, according to a news release.

Watson earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Illinois State University in 2005 where she also obtained a master’s degree in educational administration, according to a news release. She was most recently an assistant principal with Community Consolidated School District 15 in Palatine and spent 12 years as a teacher and enrichment coach in Schaumburg School District 54 before that.

“Stephanie comes to us with broad experience from her role as an assistant principal in Palatine,” Superintendent Mike Moan said in the release. “She's energetic, relationship focused, and is already working hard to bring great ideas to support the students, families, and staff at Olson.”

Watson has met with many Olson and District 200 staff members including former principal Diana Frisbie who retired this summer. She’s also spoken with dozens of families to discuss the COVID-19 plans for the upcoming school year.

“I want to make sure families feel comfortable with our plan and are confident in our safety efforts,” she said.
