A Joliet man was arrested after he befriended two 13-year-old girls through social media and sexually assaulted both of them, police said.
About 7 p.m. June 16, officers responded to AMITA Health Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet after receiving a report of a sexual assault, according to Joliet police Lt. Christopher Botzum.
During the investigation of the sexual assault complaint, officers and detectives were able to determine that Kevin Spencer, 30, of the 3500 block of Legacy Drive had befriended the two girls through social media and eventually sexually assaulted both of them, he said.
On Friday, Judge Sarah Jones signed a warrant for Spencer’s arrest that carried a $750,000 bond, according to court records.
Spencer has been charged with four counts of criminal sexual assault by force and 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, court records show. The criminal complaint filed against Spencer said his other aliases include Kevin Cardo and Cardo Patterson.
About 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Spencer was arrested at his home and taken to the Will County jail.
During a court hearing Monday, Will County Assistant Public Defender Todd Lenzie was appointed as Spencer’s attorney and a judge ordered Spencer’s bond to remain at $750,000, court records show.
The judge scheduled the case for either an arraignment or preliminary hearing on Aug. 13.
Spencer remained in jail Monday afternoon.
On April 30, Spencer was issued a ticket from Illinois State Police on a charge of driving on a suspended license and failure to reduce speed, according to court records.
