ELBURN – The 2020 Elburn Days festival has been canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a news release posted on the Elburn Lions Club Facebook page, organizer Chet Cybulski said that the event had to be canceled because of the state of Illinois' phase requirements on public gatherings, which limits events to no more than 50 people.
Elburn Days, which began in 1934 as "A Day in the Park," has raised money for community organizations, as well as funds to maintain the Elburn Lions Park, the release stated. Organizers are now discussing the possibility of a smaller event on Aug. 23 called "Pull for the Park" that would consist of a combination drive-thru and sit down pork dinner, where the club would sell pull tabs.
The Elburn Lions is still holding its annual Car Show Raffle, which is $20 a ticket, and the Annual 50/50 Raffle, which is $5 a ticket. More information and tickets can be found on the Elburn Lions website.
Elburn Days 2021 is scheduled for Aug. 20-22.
