BATAVIA – The Batavia Chamber of Commerce celebrated the soft opening of UFC Gym North Aurora, 1680 Orchard Gateway Blvd., North Aurora, with a ribbon cutting ceremony on June 27.
According to a news release from the Batavia chamber, owner Scott Schroeder dedicated his business to his mother’s memory, who was a fellow business owner who died from cancer last year. The company that manages the 40,000 square foot fitness center is known as Barbara Jean Fitness.
North Aurora Mayor Dale Berman presided over the celebration, and attendees included Batavia Mayor Jeffrey Schielke, Doug Rynes, general manager of the UFC Gym North Aurora, the facility’s owners and multiple staff members.
Among the well-wishers at the event included Batavia Chamber President Margaret Perreault, Chamber Communications and Membership Coordinator Shirley Mott, chamber ambassadors and founding members of the fitness facility.
This was the first ribbon cutting ceremony hosted by the Batavia Chamber since March 2020’s shelter at home order was activated.
The UFC Gym is a mixed martial arts-inspired fitness facility, originally founded in 2009. The organization is an extension of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, ® and makes the training programs of elite MMA athletes accessible to all, regardless of age or athletic ability, the release stated.
