A Lockport man was arrested after he stole a case of beer from Walgreens and threatened one of the store employees with a knife, officials said.
About 5 p.m. Thursday, officers were sent to Walgreens, 16750 W. 159th St., Lockport, after receiving a report of a man later identified as Christian Palomares, 20, of the 1200 block of Highland Avenue, who had committed a robbery, Lockport police officials said.
Palomares stole a case of beer and threatened a Walgreens employee with a knife, officials said.
When officers arrived, they located Palomares standing outside the Walgreens with a 12-pack of Bud Light beer, officials said. After further investigation, the officers recovered the knife that Palomores brandished during the incident, officials said.
Palomares was taken into custody without incident and taken to the Lockport Police Department for booking, officials said.
On Friday, Palomares was charged with armed robbery, court records show.
During a bond court hearing Friday afternoon, a judge set Palomares' bond at $500,000. Palomares will need to post $50,000 for his release from the Will County jail.
His next court date is June 30.
On June 9, Palomares was charged with burglary and criminal damage to property in Lockport, records show. He had been arrested in connection with the incident June 6 and released from jail June 9 after he posted 10% of his $10,000 bond, according to the county jail log.
On April 8, Palomares was charged with aggravated battery to a police officer, records show.
