Whiteside County public transportation to resume rides on Monday

STERLING – Whiteside County Public Transportation, which has been closed during the COVID-19 shutdown, plans to "slowly reopen" Monday, it said on its Facebook page.

Those who call to schedule a ride will be asked a series of COVID-19-related health questions. Riders will be required to wear a mask or face covering, and only one rider will be allowed on a bus at a time, sitting as far from the driver as possible.

"We will re-evaluate this as the state moves into Phase 4," the post said.

Call 815-625-7433 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday to schedule a ride; go to www.ridewcpt.net/ or find it on Facebook for updates and more information.

The Lee-Ogle Transportation System has been running throughout the closure, and on May 1 began requiring its passengers to wear masks or other face-coverings. It implemented social-distancing protocols and regular bus sanitizing measures in mid-March.

LOTS customer service is available Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 815-288-2117 for those who need to schedule a ride to essential appointments, including kidney dialysis, chemotherapy, and work. Limited rides also are available to grocery stores.

Go to www.leeogletransportation.com or find it on Facebook for updates and more information.
