La Salle County coronavirus update: 5 additional cases reported Sunday

The La Salle County Health Department confirmed an additional five COVID-19 cases in the county Sunday, bringing the total to 140 cases. The additional cases are: a male who is a youth; a female in her 30s; a male in his 30s; a female in her 50s and a male in his 50s.

The cases remain in isolation. In a release, the health department stated that federal privacy restrictions prohibit the release of any additional information regarding these cases. Public health officials are working actively to identify and investigate all individuals who were in contact with the cases. No further information regarding the investigation is available at this time.

As of Saturday, 73 cases have recovered in the county.

According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, 2,755 people have been tested in La Salle County, which is 2.52% of the population.

There have been 19 confirmed cases in Ottawa; 35 in Marseilles; 15 in Mendota; 22 in Sheridan and six in Somonauk, according to the IDPH, which reports numbers for municipalities with clusters of six or more cases.
