Bolingbrook linebacker Tyler McLaurin commits to Michigan

A week after narrowing his recruiting list down to his Top 5, Bolingbrook linebacker Tyler McLaurin announced his commitment to Michigan on Twitter Saturday.

The junior was also considering Michigan State, Iowa State, Nebraska and Texas Tech. He had 16 offers in total, according to 247sports.com.

"With Michigan, it's a school that is very well regarded academically, and it is a successful football program that usually finds itself in a major bowl every year," McLaurin told Friday Night Drive last week.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pound McLaurin helped Bolingbrook to an 8-4 record last season. The Raiders defeated Hinsdale Central and Oswego in the playoffs before falling to Warren in the Class 8A quarterfinals.

The Bolingbrook defense held opponents to 14 points or less eight times and only twice allowed more than 20 points.
