SYCAMORE – Give DeKalb County Day is still planned for May 7, but walk-in donations have been canceled due to COVID-19.
In response, organizers have decided to allow donations by mail postmarked April 16 through May 7, according to a news release.
Donors can also give through the website www.GiveDeKalbCounty.org from midnight to midnight May 7. Donations can be made online by credit card, debit card, ACH transfer or Mobile Wallet.
Give DeKalb County is coordinated by the DeKalb County Nonprofit Partnership, a program of the DeKalb County Community Foundation. The past six giving days combined have raised more than $2.5 million for participating nonprofit organizations.
“This year Give DeKalb County comes at a critical moment,” DCNP Director Ben Bingle said in a news release. “Over 75% of nonprofits nationwide have had to cancel fundraising events due to COVID-19. They rely on these events to fund much-needed programs and for operational support. Now more than ever, Give DeKalb County can have a tremendous impact on local nonprofits and the communities they serve.”
Starting April 16, donors giving by check can print a donation form from the website, complete the form indicating the organizations and donation amounts, then write a single check for the total amount payable to “DCCF.” Checks can be mailed to DeKalb County Community Foundation, 475 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, IL 60178.
“This is a challenge,” Bingle said. “But we’re in this together and for those in a position to donate, we ask for your support. Nonprofits are vital to our local communities and this is an opportunity to support their incredible work.”
The minimum online donation amount is $5, and there is no minimum for mailed donations. Give DeKalb County leverages a portion of matching funds from a bonus pool.
