SYCAMORE – Hy-Vee is changing its hours and will no longer be open 24 hours a day and the change will affect the Sycamore location as well.
Beginning Feb. 10 the new hours will be 5 a.m. to midnight, seven days a week.
A sign at the entrance to the Sycamore Hy-Vee, 2700 Oakland Dr., Tuesday alerted customers to the new hours.
"We have changed our hours to reallocate several team members to be available to assist customers during busier shopping times each day," the sign reads.
The second sign that explains how the store will reallocate several of its team members is affixed to the front of the customer service desk inside the store.
Hy-Vee, headquartered in West Des Moines, Iowa, has more than 240 stores across eight Midwestern states, according to the company website.
Tina Potthoff, a spokeswoman for Hy-Vee, said the company is switching its stores' hours because more of Hy-Vee's shoppers frequent there during the day. Like many retailers, fewer people shop at night.
Potthoff said no employees will lose their jobs during the transition.
"Employees at night will be offered shifts during the day," she said. "We will still have employees stocking at night."
