Megan Kolberg
Bowling | Senior
Why Kolberg was selected
The senior bowler for Sycamore kept notching 700 series all week. She notched a 743 against Kaneland and then a 770 against Ottawa – the fifth highest series in school history that included her taking a perfect game into the final frame. She beat DeKalb-Sycamore gymnast Maddy Kees, Kaneland girls basketball player Kylie Holubecki and DeKalb girls basketball Ashley Nelson.
• On what was working last week
"Everything. I had a great support system behind me. All my mechanics were on spot. The pins seemed to fall. Those couple of days turned out well and it turned into a great week."
• On trying to roll a 300 in high school competition
"I've been close before in high school play. I always tell everybody the best thing to do is make sure your shot is mechanically sound from line to line, and what happens beyond the line is beyond your control. I had that mindset that if I aced that shot and the pins fell than that was supposed to happen. But if they didn't then it was a good run."
• On her goals for the year
"We as a team have been to Day 2 of state as Long as I've been here. So with the help of a couple others we should be able to get to Day 2 again and maybe even be in the top 5 as a team. That would be awesome."
