Kevin Mikel Lopez

STERLING – Kevin Mikel Lopez, age 62, died at his nephew’s home in Morrison Tuesday, December 10, 2019.

Mikel was born on August 23, 1957, in Sterling, the son of Digno and Rachel (Magon) Lopez. He was employed at GMX Jumpers in Sterling and at Deer Valley Golf Course in Deer Grove where he loved to landscape. Mikel was an avid Chicago Bears and wrestling fan, enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews.

Survivors include one son, Damien (Elizabeth) Fisher of Carroll Stream; one stepdaughter, Stephanie (Adam) Dahl of Davenport, Iowa; one stepson, Shain Dahl of Davenport; two sisters, Irene Lopez-Batley of Sterling and Norma Magon of Pittston, Pa.; three brothers, Dino (Heather) Merced of Sterling, Zeke (Dorothy) Lopez of N.J. and Angel Lopez of El Cajon, Calif; two grandchildren, Lucian and Anastasia; Dear friend, Shelley Smither of Janesville, Wis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Virgil Merced and Arthur Lopez; one sister, Marta Vinson.

Celebration of Life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 14, 2019 at the First Church of the Nazarene in Sterling with Pastor Gail Engelkens officiating.

Arrangements were completed by the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls.
