Steak and seafood restaurant, gym among businesses to open next year in Crystal Lake

A number of businesses are slated to open in Crystal Lake, according to the city’s economic development staff.

Restaurants scheduled to open this winter include Mookies Steak and Seafood, at 444-450 W. Virginia Ave., and Vine and Plate Wine Bar & Provisions, at 414 W. Virginia St.

At 800 Cog Circle, the Edge Fitness Club is expected to open next year. The Edge also is opening a location in Naperville in 2020.

It currently has a locations in Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Rhode Island. It offers personal training as well as yoga, Zumba, conditioning and other types of fitness classes.

As previously reported, McAlister's Deli and Freddy's Frozen Custard and Steakburgers also are expected to open at 5500 Route 14.

The building at 5500 Route 14 was formerly a Five Below. It will be turned into a three-unit site for the two eateries and a retail space.

Which retail shop will locate there has not yet been determined.

Crystal Lake also has seen several recent business openings.

Holiday Envy, at 1540 Carlemont Drive, is a holiday decoration store that sells trees, ornaments and home decor.

Additionally, a recently opened Indian Spices Grocers and Restaurant, at 1295 Randall Road, offers a variety of traditional Indian dishes and products.
