A "serious" crash closed both northbound and southbound lanes and claimed the life of at least one man on Interstate 55 near Lorenzo Road Thursday morning.

Kenneth Bloor, 34, of St. Peters, Missouri, was killed in the crash.

Bloor was the driver of a 2014 Honda Civic. He and four other drivers were stopped in a construction zone when a semitrailer caused a chain-reaction crash, police said.

Illinois State Police said about 9:30 a.m. Thursday troopers were on the scene of a serious crash on northbound I-55 at Lorenzo Road. The crash involved three semitrailers and two passenger cars, police said.

Northbound lanes would be closed for an extended period of time, police said. Traffic was rerouted onto Route 113 in Braidwood.
