Geneva venue to host signing by author of children's book 'Soul Pretty'

GENEVA – A book signing is planned for a new children’s picture book, “Soul Pretty,” written by Linda Giacomino of St. Charles. The event will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 13 at All Chocolate Kitchen at 33 S. Third St. in downtown Geneva.

Released by Mascot Books, “Soul Pretty” is illustrated by Paula Romani and celebrates the beauty within.

The publishing house notes the story follows a young girl on a scenic bike ride through Paris. With each beautiful sight she passes on her journey, the book offers gentle guidance and advice on how to live one’s best life. It imparts lessons on honesty, optimism, patience and harmony and is designed to be an inspirational read for children and adults alike.

In addition to the book signing at All Chocolate Kitchen, Giacomino said the book, her first, is carried at Barnes & Noble at Geneva Commons on Randall Road.

She said her goal was to create a picture book for girls ages 5 and older that would convey positivity.

“It’s about … having the child learn about having a good attitude about life,” Giacomino said, citing moral values as vital to building a strong character better equipped to deal with the problems that arise in life.

“We needed to have a tool for the children to look at and have a conversation starter to help … parents and guardians,” she said.

The book is designed to provide tools to learn how to face the world, she added.
