Plainfield restaurant helps out football/cheer association

Slim Chickens of Plainfield, IL presented a donation of $604.90 on Nov. 4 that was raised during their RoundUp campaign for The Saints Football and Cheer Association throughout the month of September.

The Slim Chickens location partnered with The Saints Football and Cheer Association for a month long charity event.

Throughout September the employees at Slim Chickens asked their guests if they would like to “Round Up” their total amount spent to the nearest dollar, in order to benefit this non-for-profit group that provides championship-winning youth football and cheer programs for ages five to 15 in the Plainfield, Joliet and surrounding areas.

“The Saints are such a fun youth program,” said Kaitlin Reyes, assistant manager, said in a news release “I love it when the players come into the restaurant! We always get a kick out of how happy they are. They always make a point of saying ‘thanks for supporting us too’.”

“Seeing the joy on the boys’ faces when we handed them the big check was a memory I will never forget,” Andrew Buscher, district manager, said. “Working with their president Bob Tota was really great, he was always looking for ways to integrate our partnership with Slim Chickens more heavily with the organization.

"We planned special team discount nights for them throughout the month and he even sold our chicken sandwiches at the Saints home games as an extra fundraiser. Partnering with a true Plainfield pillar organization that does everything with volunteers to benefit the kids was amazing.”

This fundraiser follows its recent opening in Plainfield on Sept. 5.

It is the first of three Illinois reopenings to be completed in September, the second and third of which are taking place in Bloomington and Champaign in what will eventually be a 50-unit area development deal in Illinois and Missouri.
