Dwayne “Toad” Mark Rhodes, 62, of Streator, passed away Thursday, Aug. 22, at his home.

Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, at the Winterrowd Funeral Home. Services will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with full military honors conducted by members of the Streator American Legion and VFW.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be his sons, grandchildren, son-in-law, brother and friends Dan Crampton, Ralph Feken, Mike Sliker and Randy Maynard.

Toad was born on Jan. 24, 1957, in Streator to Darrell and Della (Bright) Rhodes. He married Penny Statler on Jan. 18, 1980. She survives.

Also surviving are children Jennifer (David) Szewczyk, of Streator, Beth (Dave Majors) Rhodes, of Hollister, Mo., David (Tristin) Rhodes, of Streator, Dustin Rhodes, of Streator and, grandchildren, Andrew (Nico), Kaylan (Luke) Szewczyk, Jesse Carranzo, Ashlee Decker, Zacahree Major, Kiley, Lucas, Levi Rhodes, Blake, Elexis and Ayvrie Struble, brothers Doug Rhodes, of Streator, and Dean (Bev) Rhodes, of Streator, sister Debbie Benstine, of Chatsworth, Ga, in-laws, Harold and Sandy Statler, of Peru, two aunts and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, nephew Trevor Rhodes and a brother-in-law Roger Statler.

Toad attended Streator High School, served 14 years in the US Army National Guard serving in Desert Storm. He was formerly employed at Rhodes Auto, Auto Zone and Cramptons Body Shop. Toad enjoyed cars, fishing, hunting, gardening, drag racing and spending time with his family and grandchildren and his dogs.
