Joliet students compete at District 86 STEM event

Eighty junior high students from Dirksen, Gompers, Hufford, and Washington Junior High were invited to compete in the Joliet Public Schools District 86 STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) Extravaganza.

The following students received a gold medal at the event. In addition, Hufford Junior High seventh grade student Ryland Denson earned a double gold award at the competition by receiving a perfect score on his presentation.

Dirksen Junior High: Jossaline Hoang, Jackson Maland, Jacqueline Munoz Carranza

Gompers Junior High: Jessica Leon, Jason Mejorada, Monserat Patino, Cyena Ulloa, Melisa Zurita

Hufford Junior High: Marcello Aguilar, Esme Bryson, Michael Del Rio, Ryland Denson (Double Gold), Diego Fernandez, Alyssa Jimenez, Zion Kostyra, Kaylen Peterson, Galileo Sanchez, Samantha Szendzial, Claudia Villaflor, Noah Whitlock

Washington Junior High: Xavier Eggert, Ana Franco, Erial Hagger, Esmeralda Hernandez, Jonathan Montesinos

The following District 86 students were also invited to compete at the Illinois Junior Academy of Science Regionals at North Central College in March.
