Police: New Lenox resident finds drunk woman in home

A New Lenox resident came home and found an intoxicated woman inside of the residence, police said.

About 3:30 p.m. July 11, an officer was dispatched to the 1000 block of Sanctuary Drive after receiving a report of an intoxicated person inside of a home, New Lenox Deputy Chief Louis Alessandrini said in an email.

The woman later was identified as 32-year-old Sarah A. Raycroft, he said.

The officer met with the resident who had contacted the police and learned Raycroft was found inside of the home for unexplained reasons, Alessandrini said.

Raycroft was told to leave the home, Alessandrini said, and she got into her car, which was parked in the driveway and drove off.

As the officer was speaking with the resident, Raycroft drove past the residence, Alessandrini said, and an officer pulled her over.

The officer learned Raycroft had a revoked driver’s license and she was driving under the influence of alcohol, Alessandrini said, and she was placed under arrest.

Alessandrini said in an email on Friday that he did not know why Raycroft was at the home as she refused to make a statement to the police.

Raycroft was booked into the Will County jail.

Raycroft’s bond was set at $75,000. She was released from custody about 1:30 a.m. July 13 after posting $7,500 bail.

Raycroft faces charges of aggravated, DUI and driving on a revoked license.
