Lemont school participated in state science fair

Over 1500 projects were displayed at the annual Illinois Junior Academy of Science Fair at Southern Illinois University.

Four projects and five students represented St. Alphonsus/St.Patrick School.

The students competed along with other schools in several scientific categories.

Drea Sarno, Max Schuette, Madie Skwarek, Lia Alfonso and Sophia Filipek competed and advanced from the local and regional competitions to make it to the state finals.

All four projects earned a gold award.

Below is a breakdown of the results: "What Makes Ice Melt the Fastest" by Sophia Filipek and Drea Sarno, gold; Does Music Affect Math" by Max Shuette, gold; "Does the Color of Light Affect Plant Growth" by Madie Skwarek, gold; "Does Participating in Class Improve your Memory Retention" by Lia Alfonso, gold, Girl Scout Special Award.
