Joliet Central JROTC competed in 2019 championship

Joliet Central High School JROTC cadets qualified to compete in the 2019 Army Service National Air Rifle Championship at Camp Perry, Ohio from Feb. 15 to Feb. 17, 2019.

The Army Service Championship competition gives qualifying JROTC individuals and teams an opportunity to meet the challenges of a major shoulder-to-shoulder competition while maintaining discipline.

To qualify for this year’s event, 272 Army JROTC programs nationwide competed in a competition hosted by the Civilian Marksmanship Program in December 2018.  Central placed fourth in their Brigade and was one of 93 teams to advance to the Service Championship.

Joliet Central High School was represented by students Rodolfo Castillo, Callista Cromwell (Team Captain), Hannah Rausch, Brandon Sanchez, and Adrian Zamudio, (Assistant Captain). Sergeant First Class (Retired) Craig Foster, is a JROTC instructor at Joliet Central and the team’s marksmanship coach.
